With a staff of over 40 teachers and a roll of more than 600 pupils, St. Michael’s College offers a broad academic curriculum as well as a comprehensive range of sporting and cultural activities. First opened in 1968, a new, state of the art school was built in 2000.

An extensive list of academic options is available to all boys entering 1st year. All students prepare for the Junior Certificate examination followed by a compulsory Transition Year programme. Transition Year students are expected to engage in many activities which are designed to help their development, intellectually, socially and physically. A significant feature of the programme is an annual African project which takes place in May. Following Transition Year students have a further wide range of subject choices to pursue for their Leaving Certificate. Third level studies are the option for most as they complete their studies at St Michael’s college.

The extra-curricular aspect of life at St Michael’s is equally important. Students are expected to partake in one of the many sports available within and outside of the school. The school has excellent sporting facilities with pitches, a swimming pool and a modern sports pavilion including a full weights room. Dramatic and musical events are a regular occurrence with boys also taking part in the school choir and debating.

A community of 8 members of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit is based at the school. Liturgical ceremonies are a regular feature of school life with the students being offered the opportunity of daily mass, access to the Sacrament of Penance, annual retreats, Christmas and Easter ceremonies and the services of both the RE department and the chaplaincy team.
